A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty, is a common surgical procedure to remove excess skin from the abdominal area to improve its shape and appearance. Before having the procedure done, you will want to be set up for comfort and safety in your home while you recover.
Before you head under the knife, make sure your home is clean and tidy. Take care of loose rugs, wires or cables that may be a tripping hazard. While you are recovering, your midsection and incision site with be quite sore. Limiting your balance and mobility. Avoiding walking hazards will be the last thing you will want to do. Have some easy to cook or premade meals if you have limited help during the day and have lots of liquids on hand. For bathing, you may want to pick up some camping bathing wipes or use a bath bench in the shower. For sleeping and recovery, consider renting an electric recliner. They are fully adjustable to find a comfortable position without having to stick pillows behind your back. They also help stand you up, taking pressure off of your surgical site. With your core muscles healing, you may want to consider a commode or toilet safety frame to help get up and down from a toilet. You will be using your arms and legs more when your core muscles use to do the work. Have some good books, music, movies, and TV shows on the ready while you spend possibly 6 weeks recovering. Its a time for you to focus on getting better, so have everything you need ready before you need it.
